Curator's Note
This long silk slip dress was designed by John Galliano for his Spring/Summer 2001 collection. Galliano was known for his use of the bias cut, influenced by his study of Madeleine Vionnet’s work. Panels of metallic silk are joined on the diagonal, with the colour moving from butter yellow through pink to fuchsia across the dress. Fine spaghetti straps sit above a close-fitting bias-cut body, which falls more loosely towards the hem.
