2010 Louis Vuitton Runway Documented Brown Wool Striped Skirt Suit
This suit was made during Marc Jacobs’ lauded reign at Louis Vuitton. It walked as Look 3 (of 54) in the Fall 2010 show, with Vogue complimenting the designer as creating “another angle on the Mad Men era but this time with a charming Frenchified accent”. Supermodel Stella Tennant was shot by David Sims in this suit for the November 2010 issue of British Vogue.
Louis Vuitton pieces from this era are known to be beautifully made, and this timeless suit is tailored from a deep brown textured wool and detailed with delicate black pinstripes. It draws on classic 1940s silhouettes - one of Circa’s favourite eras of women’s tailoring - with its nipped-in waist and curved shawl collar. The collar, cuffs and flap pockets are trimmed with black silk taffeta and the jacket closes at the front with two logo-engraved tortoiseshell buttons. The split cuffs close with three of these elegant buttons. The jacket is lined with smooth black silk crepe. The skirt is crafted from the same textured brown wool, and has a high-waisted full-skirted shape that falls to the calf with pockets at the hips. It fastens at the centre back with hidden hook and eyes and a zip with logo-engraved zip-pull. Inside the waistband, the skirt is lined with black grosgrain and is detailed with the Louis Vuitton label and address of the Paris store.
Made in France, this suit is in excellent archival condition with no issues of any note. It is labelled a French size 36 which equates to a UK 6-8 or US 2-4. Unfortunately the composition labels have been cut out. The fabric has no stretch so please check our measurements below.
